AUBURNDALE (WAOW)- The WIAA volleyball state tournament starts on Thursday in Green Bay, and Auburndale is one of four local teams who will get to take in the festivities coming up this week facing Cuba City on Friday.
The Apaches knocked off Roncalli three games to one on Saturday night in Stevens Point, and what makes the trip even more special is its the team's first ever trip to compete at state.
Says Head Coach Empey, "It's an amazing thing for this team to go to state because of all the things they've overcome over the season and all the push they've had in the offseason, first time in our school's history to go to state, so it's a great feeling."
Says Senior Reba Berger, "It's our first time going to state so we're really excited, we might be a little nervous but we're going to practice casually like we always do, keep it as normal as possible and just do what we have to do."
