STEVENS POINT (PRESS RELEASE) - UW-Stevens Point Women's Soccer player Jackie Spees has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team, an award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Spees, a native of Wisconsin Rapids, maintains a 3.9 GPA while majoring in Health Science.
Spees is the starting midfielder for the women's soccer team that finished the season 13-3-1 and 8-0-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) for the 11th time in team history.
Spees is second on the Pointers in goals (9), assists (7) and points (25). She leads the Pointers in shot attempts (60) and shots on goal (39). She started 15 of the 16 games she participated in. She now moves on to a national ballot
Spees has played a large role in her teams overall success this season. The Pointers are ranked No. 19 in Div. III National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. They also rank No. 2 in the North Region.
The Pointers return to action on Thursday, Nov. 5, when they will host a second round WIAC tournament match against the lowest remaining team. The Pointers have received a first round bye in the tournament after winning the WIAC regular season title.
