PRESS RELEASE (WAUSAU) -- The Wisconsin Woodchucks Baseball Club and Marshfield Clinic are pleased to announce a partnership that generated $2,900 for the Wausau Area Youth Baseball and Softball programs.
This money was donated to Wausau Area Youth Baseball and Softball for every Woodchucks extra-base hit over the past two seasons.
Woodchucks' extra-base hits led to a $1,100 donation this past summer, while the 2008 season brought in an additional $1,800. Woodchucks owner Clark Eckhoff and Marshfield Clinic East Division Administrator John Kelly presented the check to WAYB&S board member Bob Stasney.
The Marshfield Clinic system provides patient care, research and education with 45 locations in northern, central and western Wisconsin, making it one of the largest comprehensive medical systems in the United States.
The Wisconsin Woodchucks are a member of the Northwoods League, a college wood bat summer league featuring players from across the country. Baseball America named the Northwoods League as one of the premier summer collegiate baseball leagues in the country.
