WISCONSIN (WAOW) -- There are some Wisconsin connections to Thursday's deadly shooting at Fort Hood, that claimed the lives of 12 people, and injured another 31.

A soldier from the Stanley area is currently stationed at the base.

Newsline 9 has learned that soldier is okay.

The son of State Representative Kitty Rhoades is also there.

Rhoades says her son was unharmed.

Our sister station WKOW in Madison got the chance to speak with an area soldier Thursday, who is also stationed at the base.

"It's shocking. It's tough to sit back and think you make it through 15 months of Iraq, thru explosions, gunfire, and all that. And then you come back home, and get shot dead by some guy who decided he didn't want to do that." says Sgt. James Everard.

Others were not so lucky.

Amber Bahr, 19 of Random Lake, was injured in the shooting.

Her father says Bahr was shot in the stomach and is now listed in stable condition at a local hospital.

Bahr's mother Lisa said that they were able to speak with their daughter after the shooting and heard about how she reacted.

'She says she did what a soldier is supposed to do and helped the other people." says Lisa Kopping.

Bahr is expected to make a full recovery. Her father says she might even come home early.
