WAUSAU (WAOW) -- An update now on the expansion of an area college. UW Marathon County broke ground on this new project in August and it is now well underway. University leaders say since the site is small, the work has to be done in phases. Despite the size, they say construction is on-schedule and the work should continue.
Gigi Koenig works at the college and says, "If the weather holds up they hope to have it encapsulated so they can be working on it during the winter months on the inner part of the building."
The 33,000 square foot building will include a theater, gallery and classrooms. It will also house offices and several programs currently located in UWMC's existing building. The $6.8 million dollar project is expected to be completed next November.
