Federal jury finds against Racine business

Associated Press - November 24, 2009 6:15 AM ET

MILWAUKEE (AP) - A federal jury in Milwaukee has awarded $105,000 to two former employees of a Racine restaurant after a 4-day trial over sexual harassment claims.

The jury awarded $104,000 to one teenage female server and $1,000 to another who worked at a Racine, Wis., IHOP restaurant stemming from a lawsuit that began in 2006.

The two say they were sexually harassed by an assistant manager, who allegedly subjected them to sexual propositions, groping and hair-pulling.

The jury reached its verdict Thursday in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

Attorney Robert M. Mihelich represented the company that owned the IHOP. He said his clients would appeal because their policies and initiatives regarding harassment in the workplace are proper and were followed.
