STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- Motorists traveling near Stevens Point were in for quite a surprise, Thursday morning.
A digital construction sign on the southbound side of I-39 near Exit 161 seems to have been tampered with, according to some travelers.
The sign normally displays road construction information, but Thursday morning it read:
"Danger, Danger
High voltage
When we touch
When we kiss"
Wisconsin Department of Transportation leaders say they were made aware of the sign this morning and quickly changed it.
The message board is controlled by United Painting, a company out of Forest Junction that was contracted by the DOT. The crews were re-painting several overpasses in the area.
Newsline 9 called United Painting this morning for a statement, that call hasn't been returned.
DOT leaders say they're taking the matter seriously and want to ensure the safety of all drivers.
