WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Wausau's summer kickoff is officially underway on the city's 400 block. Unfortunately the weather has moved things inside, but it's not putting a damper on all the fun.
Bands, food vendors and craft stations are kicking off the event with the 'Screen on the Green' following. The Wausau Area Events Director Kari Rasmussen says it's always exciting to kick off the summer season and all the 400-block activities coming up in the next few weeks.
Rasmussen says, "It starts our entire events season, usually we have better weather. Farmers market starts next week Thursday after that concert on the square June 23rd our entire programming schedule gets started from this day on."
Due to the weather, the 'Screen on the Green' is scheduled to play inside. But, event leaders say it only takes 15 minutes to blow up the big 40 foot screen so if the weather holds out, they'll keep things out on the 400 block.
The movie tonight, Shrek 2, starts at 9:00 p.m.
