Scott Wimmer rang the bell for the Salvation Army from 11am-1pm Fridayby Bryon Graff
ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) - The NASCAR off-season is a quick one. And when the new season arrives Wausau's Scott Wimmer is ready to run some races.
He rang the bell and collected money for the Salvation Army at Gander Mountain Friday afternoon.
As a part-time racer for Richard Childress this year Wimmer won a race and finished in the top ten eight times. He's a six-time winner in the Nationwide Series.
However, he was cut loose by RCR Racing after the season. He spoke with some owners this week and would love to drive both Sprint Cup and Nationwide next year.
Scott Wimmer: "I talked to a team about running Daytona 500 so hopefully I can make a start down there again and run a Nationwide Car. I might be running both series so it might be a real busy year next year."
