Mickey's Makes a Difference

Schofield (WAOW) -- Most people go to Mickey's Bar and Pizzaria in Schofield for a juicy burger and a game of pool.

Now you can go to make a difference.

Waitstaff, Terry Blumberg and Ashley Marshall, are making it easy this season to feed and clothe the poor.

"There's a lot of people out there, they want to help but they don't know where to go to help people, and I guess I make that easy for them," says Blumberg.

They're asking you to bring in food and coats to be donated to The Neighbors Place, an organization that helps people in need in Marathon County.

Tom Rau, the Neighbors Place Director, says the need for donations is growing. "We're seeing close to 300 families every week coming to the pantry for food."

On top of food and coats, Blumber and Marshall are donating 1/2 of their tips for the next two weeks.

"It's just a small little step, but we can do a lot," says Marshall.

Even though times are tough, the customers are in the giving mood.

One customer said, "It encourages us to double our tip of what we'd normally put, knowing that it's going to a good cause."

Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a warm coat this season, so Terry is asking for your help. "Let's make this work people, we can do it!"

Mickey's will be accepting food, coat and tip donations for the next two weeks.
