MARSHFIELD (WAOW)--The Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing Secretary, Celia Jackson, and Medical Examining Board, Chair Gene Musser, M.D., held a press conference Wednesday morning at the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield.
Musser used the press conference to announce 8 new MEB jobs. MEB members hope the new positions will help get rid of some of the backlog of cases and help move those cases through a little more quickly. Right now, according to Musser, a case can take up to 3 years from the initial complaint to the time action is taken. They hope to cut that time in half to 18 months or less.
Newsline 9’s Colby Robertson also talked to Musser and Jackson about the pending case against Kevin Lang. He’s the doctor accused of inappropriately touching patients while they were under sedation.
Musser and Jackson said Lang’s case is moving along quicker than most. Within 2 months of the first complaint, Lang resigned. His hearing is set for December.
Last month, officials at the MEB said there is probable cause that Kevin Lang's alleged conduct calls for a license suspension. During more investigation, Lang admitted to 11 acts of sexual misconduct against patients between 2003 and 2007.
Colby will have more on this story coming up tonight on Newsline 9 at 5, 6 and 10. You can also follow her on twitter: www.twitter.com/CRobertson_waow
