
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A Minneapolis man has become the latest to be charged with terrorism-related counts in a federal investigation into the recruitment of Minnesota Somalis to fight in Somalia.
Omer Abdi Mohamed was arraigned Thursday in federal court in Minneapolis. Mohamed is charged with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, providing material support to terrorists and conspiracy to kill, kidnap, maim or injure.
Mohamed was arrested earlier Thursday at an unknown location. He was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday.
Mohamed's attorney, Peter Wold, says Mohamed had been under investigation for several months for alleged activity in 2007. No other details emerged at his arraignment and papers filed in the case weren't immediately available.
