Girl gets 3 years detention in overdose death

Posted:

JANESVILLE (AP) -- A 14-year-old Edgerton girl accused of supplying the prescription painkillers that caused the death of a 13-year-old boy has been sentenced to three years in juvenile detention.

Rock County Judge Alan Bates also ordered two years of probation for the girl, who was transferred back to juvenile court from adult court.

Alex Aiken died last month of an overdose of oxycodone and OxyContin pills that the girl had taken from her grandmother and given to the boy.

A restitution hearing will be held on April 15.
