MERRILL (WAOW) -- A major makeover is coming to the Lincoln County Courthouse and that means employees are packing up.

While the remodeling takes place, all county offices will move down the street. Workers in the Clerk of Courts spent the day cleaning out their desks and packing up their belongings.

The reconstruction will include a jury room more office space and a new elevator to make sure transporting inmates is secure.

Lincoln County Clerk of Court Cindy Kimmons says, "There was a huge security issue in our courthouse, so this additional elevator will take care of the majority of the security issues, it will also replace and readjust all of the offices."

County leaders hope to move back in the courthouse sometime next summer.

This means starting Monday, August 2nd all Lincoln County cases will be heard at the Lincoln County Service Center on 801 Sales Street in Merrill.

All Lincoln County jury trials will be held in neighboring counties. That location will be announced a week prior to trial.

If you have questions or scheduling concerns call Kathryn Hass, Judicial Assistant for Branch 1 at 536-0343 or Natalie Wegner, Judicial Assistant for Branch 2 at 536-0416.
