Marshfield(WAOW)--The DNR needs your help and it doesn't take much effort. Since 1960 DNR staff members count the number of fawns and does they see, to get a better idea of the deer sex population. For the first time ever the DNR is asking for citizens and hunters to help take part in their new project called Operation Deer Watch.
Cortney Schaefer Marathon Counties DNR Wildlife Biologist says, "The main purpose of this survey is to determine what the deer reproductive rate is this year. Even though we're asking about bucks, the important thing were looking for is how many fawns we see out there per doe along the landscape."
If you want to help count deer just log onto our webchannel for an attached link to the DNR website and click on the button called operation deer watch to report your sightings.
