Class of the Week: 4/17 Creative Writing Students at Stratford High School

WAKE UP WISCONSIN (WAOW)-- This week's winners are the Senior Creative Writing students at Stratford high school!

The Seniors exchange intercultural letters, cards, and maps with pen pals who attend high school down in Madison.

The goal is to help the ESL students learn better English skills, and to compare rural education with city education.

The students from Madison recently attended class with their pen pals in Stratford, and the students prepared an American picnic for their guests.

The students say taco dip went over the best!

Both groups of students were shocked by the similarities they shared.

The students also corresponded with local Amish families, and learned about what Amish life is like.

The Amish neighbors even visited the class, giving the students a chance to learn what life is like for the Amish community in Wisconsin.

This is the perfect example of students taking on a community building project and interacting with others.

The activities and projects engage students by teaching them about neighbors within our communities, as well as outside of them.

We had the opportunity to meet with the students, they've really taken on this project, and made it their own.

They've seen the impact they can have on others, and built friendships in the process.

The students began corresponding back in October, and are now wrapping up the project.

If you would like your school to be on Wake Up Wisconsin be sure to email us at with all your nominations.

Every Friday at 6:30 on Wakeup, we recognize a different school for their accomplishments.
