Everest counselors help students cope with murder

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- Police are still being very tight lipped about the murder of a D.C. Everest teen.

Saturday afternoon, 18 year old Breanna Schneller was found inside her Wausau apartment.

Police Chief Jeff Hardel says there's indicators whoever did this was familiar with the surroundings.

Whether that means Breanna's apartment or just the complex, he wouldn't say.

Meanwhile, Tuesday is the first day of classes for the D.C Everest High School since Breanna was found dead.

The principal, Tom Johansen says there were counselors and psychologists on hand for both students and teachers.

"Teachers spend a lot of time developing relationships with students and forming those connections with kids and when something tragic like this happens, there are concerns and emotions for both students and staff in the building."

Students and faculty aren't the only ones mourning. Her coworkers from El Mezcal in Rib Mountain put a sign up outside the restaurant.

There will be a vigil open to the public on Thursday night. It will be at 7:30 at D.C. Everest.
