Packers release training camp schedule
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers will start training camp on Aug. 1 and will practice twice daily seven times.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy will start with a single afternoon practice that day, followed by the first twice daily practices on Aug. 2.
The Packers began practice at night during training camp when McCarthy took over as coach in 2006. This marks the first year they'll be conducted on remodeled Nitschke Field, which now includes permanent lights and bleacher seating.
The annual Packers Family Night is scheduled for Aug. 8 at Lambeau Field and includes football drills followed by a scrimmage.
The preseason opener is one week later on Aug. 15 against the Cleveland Browns.
