Wilmot 4, Kimberly 3
GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (AP) -- Landon Tenhagen doubled in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Wilmot beat Kimberly 4-3 in the first WIAA Division 1 quarterfinal Tuesday.
The Panthers (23-5), who knocked off defending state champion Kenosha Bradford in a sectional final, scored two runs in the opening inning -- the first on another double by Tenhagen.
But Kimberly (22-5) rallied with single runs in the third, fifth and sixth. Two of the runs came on throwing errors, with the other scoring on a single by Luke Van Handel.
Wilmot tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a botched rundown.
Kimberly was competing in its third consecutive state tournament. The Papermakers lost last year's final after winning the title in 2007.
