Bloomer 13, Lakeside Lutheran 0
GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (AP) -- Bloomer baseball coach A.J. Gehrmann called it the best game of the season. It came at the perfect time.
The sixth-ranked Blackhawks pounded out 14 hits to back the pitching of senior right-hander Trevor Morning en route to a 13-0 romp over Lakeside Lutheran Wednesday night in a Division 2 semifinal of the WIAA state baseball tournament.
Bloomer (27-3), making its first tournament trip since crashing the Class B bracket in 1983, advances to Thursday's championship game against the winner of the Fox Valley Lutheran-Madison Edgewood game later Wednesday night.
The Blackhawks scored five runs on four hits in the fourth to turn a 1-0 game into a more comfortable advantage. They then broke the contest open with a six-run seventh that was marred by a trio of Lakeside Lutheran errors.
Morning struck out eight and allowed just one hit.
