From a press release Friday from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation,  As part of his "Grow Wisconsin" initiative to invest in Wisconsin's infrastructure and stimulate our state's economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $3.3 million contract to improve the Bull Junior Creek bridges on I-39, located in the village of Kronenwetter in Marathon County.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, June 22.

Lunda Construction Company of Black River Falls is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will reconstruct and widen the bridges to accommodate increasing traffic volumes and future improvements for the Maple Ridge Road interchange.

Construction is scheduled for completion by December 2009. I-39 will remain open during construction, but motorists can expect to encounter lane reductions. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 mph on weekdays. Crews plan to close the southbound on ramp to I-39 from Maple Ridge Road beginning June 23.

The ramp is scheduled to reopen in early September. During the closure, Maple Ridge Road traffic will be detoured via Old Highway 51 and WIS 153. One hundred percent of the project will be paid with state transportation funds
