MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The University of Wisconsin-Madison will get $45,000 to bolster golf classes courtesy of pro Steve Stricker and the 2008 Ryder Cup Outreach Program.
Through the program, members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team pick universities to receive money from the PGA of America.
Stricker is an Edgerton native and member of last year's Ryder Cup team. He designated UW-Madison as a funding recipient.
The school will use the money to add eight more sections of a golf activity course over the next two years.
Some of the money also will bolster the Division of Recreational Sports' "Scramble 2 Vegas" golf tournament. The top teams in the tournament qualify for the National Collegiate Golf Championship held in Las Vegas in November.
