Car show rolls into Iola

By Heather Sawaski

For Phillip Lang, fixing up old cars is a labor of love. He's spent the last 4 years perfecting his 1969 Mustang Mach 1.

"I bought the car in pieces," Lang said. "It had no interior, it was already painted when I bought it but I had to put everything together and get it adjusted and running."

He along with hundreds of other car-lovers showed off their work at this year's Iola Old Car Show. From the 1930's all the way up to today, there were vehicles from just about every era.

"It was pretty rough when I first bought it," Lane said. "I put 2 new corners on it, one new fender, hood grill, front balance, then painted it."

And while his cars have been on display at shows for over 20 years now, he says Iola is his favorite stop.

"It's spread out, large, a lot of vendors, and you can find almost anything you want."

Even though this year's show just wrapped up this afternoon, the theme for next year's event has already been announced--- Sensational Sixties. It'll, of course, feature all makes and models from that decade.
