HOUSTON (AP) -- Prosecutors have dismissed a drug charge against Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly Jr. but say they expect to refile the case.
Jolly, 26, had been set to go to trial Friday on a felony drug possession charge after he was arrested in July 2008 in Houston for allegedly having at least 200 grams of codeine.
Harris County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Donna Hawkins said the case was dismissed Thursday so lab technicians at the Houston Police Department crime lab could become proficient with a new piece of equipment that measures the amount of codeine in a submitted sample and learn to testify about its results.
Prosecutors expect to refile the case within the next three months.
Jolly's attorney didn't immediately return a phone call Thursday.
