Wausau Northern little league team heads to state tournament

By Russ Owens

WAUSAU (WAOW)-  The Wausau Northern district five little league team has gone to the state tournament two of the last three.  Now this year's team makes it three of four.

The 11 and 12 year olds had their last practice before state on Thursday night.

And most of the team will travel down to Kenosha on Saturday morning to take part in the six team state tournament.

Northern opens up with Appleton, and the team is pretty fired up for the challenge.

Says Infielder Mitchell Leopold, "It's pretty exciting because we did go before with some more experienced players back when I was nine."

Says Infielder Kevin Conley, "I think we all worked hard to get there and I think we deserve to go, we havn't gone in two years."

Says Infielder David Seamon, "Well if everyone is on top of their game I think we'll win it, but everyone has to be on top of their game and play top notch baseball."

Please contact the Wausau Little League Association if you are interested in donating or sponsoring the teams for any trips.
