GREEN BAY (WAOW)- We are now just a week away from the start of Packers training camp as Green Bay holds its first practice on August 1st, this year though there's a change as the Packers will enjoy a new facility.
Green Bay opens the Ray Nitschke field training camp facility.
One of the many changes are new bleachers which seat 1,500 people, and even better you don't have to look through a chain link fence.
Also the playing surface is different, no more field turf, instead its natural grass with an underground heating system so the team can practice outside in the cold.
Says Packer VP of Administration/General Counsel Jason Wied, "This is going to be the best practice track that our players have practiced on, it's going to be the most up to date. The field is going to be in perfect condition, I think the players are going to be excited to see the players sitting up high above them. It'll feel more like a gameday for them, we think it's going to be a great atmosphere."
