MILWAUKEE (PRESS RELEASE) - The Milwaukee Brewers today signed RHP Kyle Heckathorn, who was selected by Milwaukee as one of two supplemental first round draft selections (#47 overall) in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, it was announced today by Bruce Seid, Director of Amateur Scouting.
Heckathorn went 4-1 with a 3.44 ERA (86.1ip, 33er) and one complete game in 13 starts as a junior at Kennesaw State University this past season. In his final start of the 2009 season against North Florida, he struck out 15 batters, which is a KSU record. In three seasons at Kennesaw State, Heckathorn went 16-5 with a 3.83 ERA (214.0ip, 91er), including 239 strikeouts in 37 games (35 starts). He has been assigned to Rookie Helena.
The Brewers have now signed 27 of the 53 players drafted in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft including 14 of the team's top 17 draft selections. A complete list of the Brewers 2009 draft selections is attached.
