WAUSAU (WAOW) - The Woodchucks have turned the ship around... and headed the right direction. One of the team's pitching leaders is Bryce Butt... the focus of this week's Extra Innings.
Bryce Butt sips an AMP energy drink while he watches Cash Cab on the Discovery Channel. It's just hours before he makes his next start. It's a rare time of peace for a guy quick to joke around with teammates.
Guido Aspeitia: "He pulls a lot of shenanigans in the dugout. He guys love having him around."
Butt is all business on the mound. He leads the team with a 5-0 record (into Wednesday) while allowing just six earned runs in 49.1 innings. Opposing batters are hitting just .181 against him.
Bryce Butt: "I'm a finesse-type pitcher. I won't hit the high numbers. Between 84 and 86. I try to hit my spots, I'm a groundball pitcher."
Along with fellow pitcher Bryce Shafer... Butt played wooden bat summer baseball last year for the Springfield Sliders... and helped them win a championship.
Aspeitia: "He's a great addition to the clubhouse. He just knows how to win."
Butt went out Wednesday night and pitched his 3rd complete game this year and improved to 6-0.

Butt: "It's been good. I love the ways baseball has taken me from Wisconsin to Illinois last summer. You never know where it's going to take you."
