Suspect arrested in 1980 Wis. double homicide

MADISON (AP) -- After 29 years, there has finally been an arrest in the slayings of two high school sweethearts in Jefferson County.

The state attorney general and Jefferson County sheriff say Edward Edwards is being held in Louisville, Kentucky for the August 1980 deaths of Tim Hack and Kelly Drew.

Both were 19 when they vanished after leaving a wedding reception at the Concord House in August 1980.

Hack and Drew were reported missing when they didn't return home the morning after the reception.

An exhaustive search only turned up pieces of the couple's clothing, found in ditches in Jefferson County. Hunters found the bodies in the woods east of Watertown in October. The remains were so decomposed that a cause of death couldn't be determined.

No suspects were ever identified -- until today.
