Stephen Kaminski, age 86, of the town of Stockton, died Friday evening, July 31, 2009, at home.

Mr. Kaminski was born on April 21, 1923, in Rosholt, a son of the late John and Mary (Ksioszk) Kaminski. He was married to Lillian A. Hintz at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent on November 23, 1946.

Stephen was a bricklayer/mason for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He always enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, carpentry and being surrounded by his family and friends during family celebrations. He had a strong Catholic faith and, over the years, supported various ministries within the church by devoting immeasurable time and talents.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian; two sons, Andrew and Steven (Sharon) Kaminski, both of Stevens Point; four daughters, Irene Kostuchowski of Stevens Point, Suzanne (Ralph) Hopfensperger of Kaukauna, Mary (Jim) Schiller of Waupaca, and Veronica (Jerry) Bruske of Custer; two sisters, Rose Schrader of Milwaukee, and Theresa Hullin of Stevens Point; three brothers, Edwin Sr. of Rosholt, Hubert (Frances) of Stevens Point, and Raymond (Joan) of Sturgeon Bay; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by one infant son, Leonard Joseph; son-in-law, Richard Kostuchowski; two sisters, Sophie and Clara; and four brothers, Barney, Henry, John and an infant brother, Edward.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Stephen's name at a later date.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and again on Wednesday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the time for Mass. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and again at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. For online condolences, please visit
