A momentous occasion at the White House

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is huddling with Democratic senators today as he crosses a key milestone.

Why, exactly, is Obama having most of the Senate's Democrats to lunch?

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs quips that the White House meeting is set because "it's the president's birthday and Chuck E. Cheese was booked."

America's third youngest president turns 48 today.

On a serious note, the session comes as lawmakers of his own party give Obama fits on the health care overhaul cost and coverage issues.

The House has already broken for August, and the Senate's hoping to do so at the end of the week. Both bodies have left health care votes for the fall.
