Chucks stay focused on closing season out on right note

By Russ Owens

WAUSAU (WAOW)-  The Chucks continued their hot play on Saturday night with their fourth straight win and fifth in six games.  That put Wisconsin over the 500 mark for the first time this whole season at 16-15 for the 2nd half.

Unfortunately not good enough though as with wins by Madison and La Crosse on Saturday as well, that knocks the Chucks out of playoff contention.

But with two games left at home for Wisconsin, there's still a lot to prove for this team wanting to finish on the right note.

Says Field Manager Guido Aspeitia, "It's a tribute to them, they could've gone in the tank, everything was going haywire, everything was going south. They made the effort as a group that they were gonna turn things around. I think what it is with these guys is about pride, they want to end the year by making a statement which they did."

Says Pitcher Bryce Butt, "It's been one of those things where we've had to battle through a lot of adversity this year, coming back from 1-11 and to finish 16-15 is a big feat for us. It's too bad we couldn't make the playoffs but we've worked hard and will continue to work hard the rest of the season."
