WAUSAU (WAOW)-- About 40 children are taking part in the summer day camp program at the Marshfield YMCA.
Today, they drew pictures and cards which will be sent to the men and women serving our country overseas. The children told Newsline 9 they liked taking part in the activity because it allowed them to show their creativity. But, they also got a good feeling from letting the soldiers know that people back home are thinking about them.
Torrie Kolbeck, Youth and Family Director at the Marshfield "Y', says the children are learning to exercise their minds as well as their bodies during the day camp. The kids not only wrote cards and letters to the troops, but also heard from a member of the military on what it's like to serve your country.
The "Y' has brought in speakers throughout the summer to give children insight into what potential careers they might want to explore. Today, Newsline 9 Anchor Melissa Langbehn and Photographer Tom Zurawski talked to them about careers in TV.
