More job cuts at Wisconsin's largest two newspapers
MADISON (WKOW) -- The publishers of Madison's two largest newspapers announce more job cuts.
As many as 15 jobs in the newsrooms of the Capital Times and the Wisconsin State Journal will be eliminated.
The company is offering volunteer layoffs, but if not enough people take them, the layoffs will happen by the end of the month.
The two newsrooms will merge staff members into combined departments for features, sports, photography and multimedia, but they will continue to independently produce news and opinion on the Web and in print.
The Cap Times and WSJ already work on breaking news in collaboration.
The publishers said the moves are in response to the recession.
