NEKOOSA (WAOW) -- The City of Nekoosa is receiving funds to construct a new senior and community center, according Governor Jim Doyle.

The funds total $510,000 and are part of the American Recover and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Gov. Doyle made the announcement, Wednesday.

According to a news release from Gov. Doyle, community investments are what the Recovery Act is designed for.

"These are real projects that are doing lasting good and making a difference in people's lives," said Doyle. "In a city of 2,600 an investment like this will impact almost every family for generations.  Through this project we'll be able to jump-start the economy while making a lasting investment in the Nekoosa community."
