GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- As the Green Bay Packers prepare to break training camp Friday, coaches still have decisions to make on playing time at the linebacker spots.
Brandon Chillar has been filling in with the first-team defense while Nick Barnett recovers from a knee injury. Coach Mike McCarthy suggests that Chillar has been arguably the team's best linebacker during camp.
Meanwhile Desmond Bishop has begun to show he's more than a special teams ace.
McCarthy said Thursday the coaching staff is "weeks away from making those calls" about the starting lineup.
Lingering injuries will keep fellow linebackers Jeremy Thompson and rookie Clay Matthews out of Saturday's home game against the Buffalo Bills.
The season opener is Sept. 13 against Chicago.
