4th charge in Kettner case

PORTAGE COUNTY (WAOW) --  The Nelsonville man accused of killing his estranged girlfriend and two of their children heads back to court.

Investigators added a charge of recklessly endangering the life of a child to the three counts of murder against Shane Kettner, 36.  That charge relates to the only surviving child.

In late April, deputies found Kettner and a baby inside his home after breaking through a barricaded door.  They say he doused the home with gasoline that the child breathed in.

District Attorney, Tom Eagon says, "We felt that due to the nature of the gasoline fumes in the home and the condition of the house that was unhealthy for the child and that he was endangering the child's life by keeping the child in the home."

Inside the home, investigators found the bodies of the Kettner's two other children, Ashley and Griffen, as well as their mother, Christine Gollon.

Kettner stood mute when asked how he wanted to plead so the judge entered not guilty pleas on his behalf.

He faces three consecutive life sentences and now another 10 years behind bars.
