MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A federal trial between Wisconsin's high school athletic association, a newspaper trade group and a media company over Web streaming rights will begin in June.
The lawsuit filed by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association seeks to clarify the matter in a weeklong trial that is now set to begin June 28.
The WIAA took the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and Gannett Co. to court after a Gannett-owned newspaper streamed several postseason games last year. The WIAA wants a court to rule it owns the exclusive coverage rights to tournaments it hosts.
The trial was originally scheduled to begin in February, but both sides said they needed more time to prepare without elaborating.
