Free coats to kinds in Marshfield

By Heather Sawaski

MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -- It may be a little early to take out the winter coats, but church leaders in Marshfield are making sure that when the time comes, area children are prepared.

It's called Operation Bundle Up. Leaders of Believers Church opened thier doors Sunday afternoon and gave away free coats to the community.
Over 300 new coats were purchased for the event, and they went quickly.
There were no qualifications. Anyone was welcome.

"I think just because of our economic climate right now," explained Lead Pastor Rob Champion. "there are a lot of people that have need. And it's not just because they're poor. Tthere are working families and it's a struggle. Maybe someone lost their job and now they're at a place where it'd be nice just to get something where you didn't have to spend 40 or 50 bucks on a coat."

Kids also got to pick out other winter gear, like hats and mittens, to go along with their new coats.
