MADISON (AP) -- Wisconsin state Superintendent Tony Evers has paid a $250 fine for soliciting campaign donations during work hours.
The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board announced payment of the fine in materials prepared in advance of its meeting Monday.
During the campaign for state superintendent, Evers sent e-mails in February to an education official asking him to organize a fundraiser for him. The e-mails were sent to the work account of Jeff Dickert, administrator of the Cooperative Educational Service Agency in Green Bay.
Dickert then sent an e-mail from his work account notifying area school officials about an Evers fundraiser.
State law prohibits using state resources to campaign.
Dickert also paid a $250 fine.
