WAUSAU (PRESS RELEASE) - Winning 21-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-21 UW-Marathon County beat UW-Richland three games to one and again won three to one over Western Wisconsin Tech by scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-12. The win completed a perfect regular season for the Huskies with a record of 14-0. It also marked the first "Volley for Cure" night as teams wore pink uniforms and raised money for breast cancer research.
Said Coach Matt Greenberg, "We ended the regular season playing some of the top teams in the division and they really made us earn our wins tonight. We overcame obstacles that we have not had to face all year. We lost one of our starting setters in the first match and in each match tonight we dropped the first set. Both of which forced us to fight through both wins."
Co-Captain Lisa Blume had the following thoughts on the wins, "It's a great feeling having our team come together to beat a tough opponent and maintain our undefeated season."
Notes: The Huskies complete their season this weekend at the State Tournament in WI Dells, Oct. 10-11.
