CHICAGO (WAOW) -- I have good news to report, Bill finished up his heart and kidney transplant yesterday around 4:30 p.m.,  the surgeries took almost 17 hours.

The doctors say he's making great progress and that both organs are a perfect match and fit.. for him.  They tell us his body is responding beautifully.

I had a chance to see him after surgery, he waved at me, and it was so incredible to think of everything he's been through. He's one of the bravest people I have ever met. He was even writing "thank you" on paper to doctors and nurses.

He's in great hands at the hospital, and doctors expect him to be home within 10 days.

Of course, Bill has a long road to recovery, but he has so much strength and support from family, friends, and strangers, I know he'll overcome any obstacles that come his way in the future, and honor the life of his donor on a daily basis.

When Bill regains his strength and health, he plans to come on Wake Up Wisconsin for a live interview, I am very excited for that day.

I plan to be back on the show Monday, until then, thanks for the get well wishes and prayers, they were all answered!!

Please continue to keep Bill in your thoughts.
