Chair at the center of 'La-Z-Boy DWI' pulled from Ebay auction
PROCTOR, MN (WAOW)--An auction for a motorized recliner has been declined by EBay.
The Proctor, Minnesota police department confiscated the chair recently after someone was driving it while drunk.
The chair was put up for auction on EBay and had received bids of more than $43,000. However the La-Z-Boy company complained, citing copyright infringement. The chair is not one of theirs and they demanded the listing be pulled from EBay.
Now a new auction is underway and instead of referring to the chair as a La-Z-Boy, it's being called the D-W-I chair.
Still, the Proctor police chief says he'll be mad if the auction brings anything less than the $43,000.
As of Wednesday morning, the top bid was $76,000 with one day to go on the auction.
Proceeds from the auction will be used by the police department to buy new equipment.
