Imagine this... a classroom of 20 first graders experiencing how blubber helps polar region animals survive. Each student compares/contrasts how a gloved Crisco hand feels versus their own hand while immersed in a ice water bucket. The hands-on experience is memorable and the kids are able to apply their new knowledge to their study of polar regions animals. This is a great Science lesson for first graders, but something is missing. I am not able to offer my students a variety of non-fiction reading at their reading level to correlate with many of our Science lessons/ experiments. The gift of $300 dollars would go a long way in providing my students with non-fiction texts that are appropriate for first grade readers. My kids would feel very proud to be able to read about the Science topics that we study all on their own. Thank you for considering helping our classroom!
