Pope names bishop to lead Milwaukee archdiocese (VIDEO INCLUDED)

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The La Crosse, Wis., bishop has been named the 11th archbishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee by Pope Benedict XVI.

A news release from the archdiocese says the Vatican announced Saturday that Bishop Jerome Listecki is the next leader of the archdiocese, which serves about 675,000 parishioners and 211 churches..

The 60-year-old Listecki, who has led the La Crosse diocese since March 2005, succeeds New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan, who was named to that post earlier this year.

Listecki, a Chicago native, will be installed in January as Milwaukee archbishop.
