UWSP Guard Andrea Flease named WIAC Athlete of Week
MADISON (PRESS RELEASE) - UW-Stevens Point junior guard Andrea Flease, a native of New London, WI, has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Flease was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Pointer Tip-Off Tournament held Nov. 20-21. She led the Pointers in scoring in a 75-49 victory over Rockford College (Ill.) on Nov. 20, with 19 points on six field goals and seven free throws. Flease also contributed six steals. On Nov. 21, she sealed the win in the championship game, assisting on the game-winning basket with eight seconds left and then running the length of the floor to block the attempted game-winning Concordia-Moorhead shot. She finished with a double-double (12 points, 10 assists) against the Cobbers. Earlier in the week, Flease chipped in 12 points on six-of-nine shooting from the field and had five steals and six assists in a 68-48 victory at Viterbo University.
Flease and the Pointers host Wisconsin Lutheran on Tuesday evening before traveling to sixth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday in Bloomington, Ill.
