Beloit police see 3 shootings over 3 days

BELOIT (AP) -- Police in Beloit are investigating three unrelated shootings that occurred over three days, including a homicide.

Police on Friday were still searching for a suspect in Tuesday's homicide near Merrill Elementary School. The victim, 22-year-old Derick Kimber of Beloit, was shot while driving a rented car. His passenger was also shot and wounded.

Another man was hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday on the 300 block of Euclid Avenue. Police said that was apparently drug-related.

Thursday's shooting was apparently gang-related. One man was hospitalized after a house on the 1500 block of Moore Street was shot at several times from a passing vehicle.

Police Capt. William Tyler says three shootings in three days is not normal for Beloit.
