All government offices closed due to snow storm

CENTRAL WISCONSIN (WAOW) -- Governor Jim Doyle has closed all state government offices and University of Wisconsin campuses due to the blizzard conditions.

This includes UW-Stevens Point and UW-Marathon County.

Newsline 9's Kristen Connolly spoke with a representative from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

He is asking drivers who have questions about current road conditions to call 511 or visit the state Transportation Department's web site.

Roads like Hwy 2 in Ashland have been closed due to the snow.

The State Patrol says as many as a dozen semi-trailer trucks became stuck on interstate ramps where I-39, I-90 and I-94 intersect near Madison.

Patrol communications operator Lance Thomas says the heavy snow made the ramps impassible.

We Energies is also working to restore power to 26,000 customers around southeastern Wisconsin.

Forecasters expected 9 to 16 inches of snow to fall in parts of Wisconsin.
