MINNEAPOLIS – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team moved up three spots in this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 poll, ranking No. 2 in Division III.
Wins over the holiday against previously second-ranked St. Thomas as well as Wisconsin Lutheran and Viterbo garnered the Pointers (11-1, 2-1 WIAC) nine first place votes in this week's poll.
Randolph-Macon (Va.) moved into the top spot in the poll after starting the season 11-0, collecting 12 first place votes. Previous No. 1 Washington University (Mo.) drops to No. 3 in this week's poll, while UW-Whitewater slips one spot to No. 4 and St. Thomas rounds out the top-5.
The No. 2 ranking for the Pointers is the highest since week one of the 2007-08 season when the UW-Stevens Point garnered seven first place votes and a No. 2 ranking.
UW-Stevens Point returns to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) action this week with games at home against UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday, Jan. 6 and UW-La Crosse on Saturday, Jan. 9.
Wednesday's game against UW-Oshkosh is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start.
