(WAOW) - Packers cornerback Charles Woodson has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for December/January. It's the 3rd time this season that Woodson has earned the honor. The only month this year that he did not win it was October, when former Packer Darren Sharper did. Woodson is the first player to ever win the Defensive Player of the Month award multiple times in one campaign.
In the past 5 games, Woodson totaled 20 tackles and 2 interceptions. He took his latest pick back 45 yards for a touchdown in the regular season finale at Arizona.
The 12-year veteran has 9 interceptions and 3 touchdowns this season. Both those numbers are tied for tops in the NFL, with Sharper.
Woodson helped the Packers defense to the number 1 ranking in the NFC for fewest yards allowed per game. Green Bay lead the entire NFL with 30 interceptions, 40 takeaways, and a plus-24 turnover differential.
